Elf

The elves are a long lived race, blessed in magic. There exist two main groups of elves, the wood elves and the high elves.

The wood elves were the first to appear in the northeeastern region of the continent hundreds of centuries in the past. Then, and today, they tended to stay isolated from other races and remain in secluded grove communities.
However, approximately twelve thousand years ago, a powerful group of elves known as the High Elves began to engage in aggresive conquest, leading to the formation of an empire which spanned much of much of the northern half of the continent. After nearly three thousand years of uncontested reign, their empire rapidly collapsed. To this day, however, they still maintain a sizeable empire in the northeast.

Ability Score Increase. Your Dexterity score increases by 2.

Age. Elves reach physical maturity slower than humans, around the age of 40 and can live to great ages depending on their subrace

Creature Type. You are a Humanoid and an Elf

Size. Size. Elves range from under 5 to over 6 feet tall and have slender builds. Your size is Medium.

Speed. Your base walking speed is 30 feet.

Darkvision. Accustomed to twilit forests and the night sky, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.

Fey Ancestry. You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep.

Keen Senses. You have proficiency in the Perception skill.

Languages. You can speak, read, and write Common and Elven.

Subrace. Two groups of elves exist, the Wood Elves and the High Elves. Choose one of these subraces.

Wood Elf

Ability Score Increase Your Wisdom score increases by 1.

Age. On average, wood elves live about 400 years

Alignment. Wood elves tend towards neutral, rather than lawful or chaotic natures.

Fleet of Foot Your base walking speed increases to 35 feet.

Mask of the Wild You can attempt to hide even when you are only lightly obscured by foliage, heavy rain, falling snow, mist, and other natural phenomena.

Grove Magic. You know the Primal Savagery cantrip. You can cast the Detect Magic and Disguise Self spells once per long rest. Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for these spells.

Hidden Step. As a bonus action, you can magically turn invisible until the start of your next turn or until you attack, make a damage roll, or force someone to make a saving throw. You can use this ability a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

Trance. Elves do not sleep. Instead they meditate deeply, remaining semi-conscious, for 4 hours a day. The Common word for this meditation is “trance.” While meditating, you dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive after years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit a human would from 8 hours of sleep.

Wood Elf Weapon Training You have proficiency with the longsword, shortsword, shortbow, recurve bow, and longbow.

High Elf

Ability Score Increase Your Intelligence score increases by 1.

Age. On average, high elves live about 1000 years, though it is not uncommon to find high elves over 1200 years old.

Alignment. High Elves tend to value order and structure, are are likely to be Lawful. Many would consider the ideals of the average High Elf to be firmly Evil.

Blessing of Mai’ar. You know one cantrip of your choice from the Wizard spell list. Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma is your spellcasting ability for it (choose when you select this race).

Spatial Step. As a bonus action, you may slip between reality and teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.

  • Starting at 3rd level, you also gain resistance to all damage when you teleport using this trait. The resistance lasts until the start of your next turn. During that time, you appear ghostly and translucent.

Astral Trance. High elves have been blessed by Mai’ar with a greater trance. You don’t need to sleep, and magic can’t put you to sleep. You can finish a short rest in 4 hours if you spend those hours in a trancelike meditation, during which you remain conscious.

  • Whenever you finish this trance, you gain proficiency in one skill of your choice and with one weapon or tool of your choice. You magically acquire these proficiencies by drawing them from shared high elven memory and the experiences of Mai’ar, stored within the Astral Plane, and you retain them until you finish your next long rest.

High Elf Weapon Training. You have proficiency with the lance, longsword, shortsword, shortbow, and longbow.
