Level 3: Otherworldly Patron

At 3rd level, you have struck a bargain with an otherworldly being of your choice. Your choice affects your features for this subclass. Additionally, your choice of Patron determines your Patron Spellcasting Ability that you will utilize for your Pact Magic Spellcasting.

The magic of your patron ensures you always have knowledge of certain spells; when you reach a Blood Hunter level specified in the Hexblade Spells table, you thereafter learn the listed spells corresponding to your chosen Patron..

Level 3: Pact Magic

When you reach 3rd level, you can augment your combat techniques with the ability to cast spells. The spells you can learn can be found on the Warlock spell list.

Spell Slots

The Profane Soul Spellcasting table shows how many spell slots you have. The table also shows what the level of those slots is; all of your spell slots are the same level. To cast one of your warlock spells of 1st level or higher, you must expend a spell slot. You regain all expended spell slots when you finish a short or long rest.

For example, when you are 8th level, you have two 2nd-level spell slots. To cast the 1st-level spell Witch Bolt, you must spend one of those slots, and you cast it as a 2nd-level spell.

Spells Known of 1st Level and Higher.

At 3rd level, you know two 1st-level spells of your choice from the warlock spell list.

The Spells Known column of the Profane Soul Spellcasting table shows when you learn more warlock spells of your choice of 1st level and higher. A spell you choose must be of a level no higher than what’s shown in the table’s Slot Level column for your level. When you reach 13th level, for example, you learn a new warlock spell, which can be 1st, 2nd, or 3rd level.

Additionally, when you gain a level in this class, you can choose one of the warlock spells you know and replace it with another spell from the warlock spell list, which also must be of a level for which you have spell slots.

Patron Spellcasting Ability

Your Patron Spellcasting Ability dictates your spellcasting ability for your warlock spells. In addition, you use your that Spellcasting Ability modifier when setting the saving throw DC for a warlock spell you cast and when making an attack roll with one.

Spell save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Patron Spellcasting Ability modifier

Spell attack modifier = your proficiency bonus + your Patron Spellcasting Ability modifier

When you obtain this feature, you may choose to augment your Hemocraft ability with your Pact Magic.

If you choose to do so, thereafter your Patron Spellcasting Ability is your Hemocraft ability, and you calculate your Hemocraft save DC as follows:

Hemocraft save DC = 8 + your proficiency bonus + your Patron Spellcasting Ability modifier

Level 3: Eldritch Invocations

In your study of occult lore, you have unearthed Eldritch Invocations, fragments of forbidden knowledge that imbue you with an abiding magical ability.

At 3rd level, you gain one eldritch invocation of your choice from the Warlock spell list that you meet the qualifications for. When you gain certain Blood Hunter levels, you gain additional invocations of your choice, as shown in the Invocations Known column of the Blood Hunter table.

For any Eldritch Invocation which has a level requirement, treat your Blood Hunter levels as 1/3rd of a Warlock level, rounded down. For example, at 3rd level, you are considered a 1st level Warlock. At 7th level, you are considered a 2nd level Warlock.

Relative Warlock Level = floor(Blood Hunter levels / 3) + Warlock Levels

Additionally, when you gain a level in this class, you can choose one of the invocations you know and replace it with another invocation that you could learn at your relative Warlock level.

Level 3: Patron Maledict

Starting at 3rd level, your weapon becomes a conduit for the power of your pact with your chosen patron. You can use any weapon empowered by your Crimson Maledict as a spellcasting focus for your warlock spells.

Additionally, your chosen Patron grants you a specific boon.

ArchfeyWhen you make a Vital Sacrifice, you can choose to immediately turn invisible and teleport up to 60 feet away to an unoccupied space you can see. You remain invisible until the start of your next turn or until you attack or cast a spell. Once you use this effect, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest.
CelestialWhen you make a Vital Sacrifice, you may choose one creature other than yourself within 60 feet that you can see. That creature may restore a number of hit points equal to the amount that your maximum hit points were reduced by.

Level 7: Profane Warrior

You seamlessly meld occult spellcasting with martial prowess. If you use your action to cast a Profane Soul spell, or use your action to make an effect of a spell you are concentrating on (such as witch bolt), you can make a weapon attack as a bonus action on that turn.

Moreover, when you cast a Profane Soul spell while you are holding a weapon empowered by Crimson Maledict, you can cause the spell to deal the damage type of your Crimson Maledict in place of the normal damage of that spell.

Level 13: Bewitched Strikes

The Eldritch magic in your blood seeps into your weapons. When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, that creature has disadvantage on the next saving throw it makes against a Blood Rite or spell you cast before the end of your next turn.

Level 18: Savored Sacrifice

You can offer the death of your foes to your Patron for enhanced magicks. If a hostile creature dies within 30 feet of you, you can use your reaction to regain one Pact Magic spell slot, or gain temporary hit points equal to one roll of your Rite Die + your Patron Spellcasting Ability modifier.

Once you use this feature you must finish a short or long rest before you can use it again.
